Coloring Page Fairy Envelopes

I’m sure I’m not the only blogger who has experienced this. You decide fifteen minutes before your post is scheduled to publish that the pictures you have just won’t do. Then your laptop won’t connect to the internet for some unknown reason. Luckily the family desktop computer isn’t having issues.

A month or so ago, I was browsing my “followed sites” tab and came across a post that immediately made me want to get out my scissors and glue. I have IdleEmma at Puddleside Musings to thank for inspiring me with this post about using coloring pages to decorate envelopes!

I happened to have a mostly unused coloring book that was perfect for the job. Many of the images could be dissected and fit well on some of the 5″x7″ envelopes I had on hand. These pictures were all from Dover Coloring Book’s “Fairy Fashion.” I cut out the images and then glued them to the envelopes. I could have used more of the page on each envelope if I wanted to, but I liked the simpler look with these designs. I plan to color about half of the images before sending them. The other half can be fun “color me!” envelopes for the receiver.

One problem I didn’t foresee was that after I glued down the images, any modge podge I got on the front of the picture acted as a resist, making some parts difficult to color. I was able to work around it mostly, like the highlights in the fairy’s hair above.

These were a quick and easy project, and I’m glad they turned out so well. I hope to send off some of them soon!
