Welcome to another post for the Weekend Writing Warriors Challenge. The challenge is a blog hop where participants post eight to ten lines from a piece of creative writing they’ve been working on previously. You can find a list of participants on the WeWriWa website each weekend.
This weekend’s snippet contains a piece of my current work in progress, a short story I hope to submit to JordanCon’s anthology of members’ works.
She reached a tiny hand out of her swaddling, touching the rough surface of the dragon’s egg. I held my breath, suddenly afraid. Would our plans fall through after all this time?
The small body within the egg moved, shifting in response to Srina’s infant touch. In the light of the windows, the king and queen could see the sheen of rainbow which began to tint the egg, and the crack the size of a hair begin to appear.
I smiled, “And this gift I give to you, Srina Dragon’s Heart.”
The baby makes a good midwife!

Aww. If she’s there when the dragon comes out of the shell, he’s hers forever. Imprinting and all that. Right?

Yep! Dragon magic is allowing them to bond to each other at a very early stage.
